Bob Gralewski Quoted by Baltimore Sun in Article Covering $303 Million NCAA Antitrust Settlement
BALTIMORE – KM Partner Robert J. Gralewski, Jr., who led the KM team in Ray et al. v. NCAA, an antitrust class action lawsuit brought on behalf of Division I college coaches whose wages were illegally fixed at $0, was quoted by the Baltimore Sun in an article entitled "Ex-UMBC softball coach part of class-action lawsuit vs. NCAA.
Mr. Gralewski praised the five lead plaintiffs in the case, noting that, “[t]he catalyst was five brave volunteer coaches standing up and deciding enough was enough and it was time to do something about it. And the five plaintiffs decided to serve as class representatives and try to change the system and get people paid for the work that they did.”
The settlement agreement will compensate approximately 7,718 college coaches who worked hard and provided valuable services to their teams without any pay or benefits. Awards to some individual plaintiffs are expected to reach six figures.
